Pinky Flat Boat Ramp Construction – River Torrens, Adelaide, South Australia
PSI Pavements partnered with the Adelaide City Council to deliver a complex boat ramp construction project at Pinky Flat on the River Torrens, Adelaide, South Australia. The project involved working several meters below the waterline, requiring advanced concreting and engineering methods to ensure durability and long-term stability.
To maintain a dry work environment, metal sheet piling was installed to block the river flow, supported by a 24-hour water pump system. Specialised underwater construction materials were used throughout the build, including galvanised mesh formwork and high-strength 40 MPa concrete to ensure optimal structural integrity.
The concrete pour commenced at 5:30 a.m. on June 11, 2025, followed by curing and the removal of the temporary metal sheet dam. Once completed, the boat ramp structure was successfully submerged, leaving approximately three metres of the concrete ramp visible from the river’s edge.
This project showcases PSI Pavements’ capability in complex marine and civil concrete construction, delivering high-quality outcomes in challenging environments.
